An opportunity to work with Healthy Families, KinCare or Children’s Advocacy Center programs is available for volunteers and interns. Gain experience working within a program of Mountain Empire Older Citizens Children’s Services and give back to the community at the same time. There are several types of volunteers needed to work within these programs. Volunteer training will be provided based on which volunteer opportunity is arranged with you. These opportunities focus on the health and education of children and families. In order to volunteer you must fill out a volunteer application; provide two references; submit to a Virginia State Police Criminal History background check including Sex Offender Registry, complete a Virginia Dept. of Social Services Child Protective Services Registry background check and complete an interview with Children’s Services staff.
